When I was younger, I never really gave much thought to just how short life truly is. I was caught up in my day to day responsibilities and time wasn’t something I considered valuable. I rarely heard anyone talking about maximizing your potential so it just wasn’t something I thought about.
But when you spend a good portion of your days “partying” it’s easy to ignore the things that carry the most value in life. I went through a dark period in my life when all I wanted to do was cover up the pain I was experiencing from dealing with my sick mother.
Time, health, relationships, you name it, none of it really matters when you’re sedated half the time. It’s almost as if you’re living under a blanket of misery and insecurities and the only thing that matters is your next day off.
It becomes a vicious cycle and is such an easy pattern to get sucked into. I have battled the demons of drugs and alcohol just like a large percentage of our population. It’s a dangerous life in which growth as a person isn’t even considered.
When you’re insecure, unfulfilled and unhappy with the direction of your life it’s very common to take the easy road with most things. The path of least resistance becomes a standard to live by and unfortunately many people never find their way out of this hole.
Challenges aren’t something you look forward to and in most cases you avoid them like the plague.
When I had my mindset shift, and finally decided I wanted to fulfill the potential I was put on this planet to maximize, my entire life changed.
It was like a light went off in my head and I made the decision to never be average again. I decided I would work relentlessly to maximize my potential in all areas of life and destroy all self-limiting beliefs.
Self-limiting beliefs still creep up from time to time. But I’m at a place now where I simply don’t allow them to change my thought process.
If you’re going through a rough patch in life just know there’s a light at the end of the tunnel. Mindset is everything. All it takes is a simple mindset shift to develop the drive required to start maximizing your potential.
Start believing in yourself, ask for help and do everything in your power to climb out of your rut. Chase your dreams, build confidence, build momentum and the future is yours.
Life is entirely too short to be miserable…
